With the WeatherBug Community being phased out, WeatherMallard, a new weather services division of Mallard Computer, Inc., is inviting former WeatherBug Community members to join the forthcoming WeatherQuack weather community when it “hatches” this summer (possibly sooner).
“We are deeply sorry to see the WeatherBug Community come to an end” said Nathan Parker, President/CEO of Mallard Computer, Inc. “It was a fun and engaging weather community for many years. However, I respect the decision made by WeatherBug’s new leadership to phase out the WeatherBug Community, and I will always cherish the wonderful memories I had from the experience. I am excited to be involved in the ‘hatching’ of a new weather community, WeatherQuack, part of WeatherMallard, and I invite those who were active on the WeatherBug Community to come join me over on WeatherQuack as soon as we ‘hatch’.”
While the public awaits for WeatherQuack to “hatch”, WeatherMallard encourages the public to submit weather reports to the WeatherQuack Facebook page, as well as follow news updates concerning WeatherQuack at http://mallardcomputer.com, as well as the Facebook and Twitter pages for Mallard Computer, Inc., WeatherMallard, and WeatherQuack.
WeatherQuack will be powered by the rock-solid WordPress engine and utilize BuddyPress for additional community-related features. Once “hatched”, WeatherQuack will begin by offering a free signup and account management portal, weather report blogging, a way to contact WeatherQuack support for questions, and an online system status website to monitor any website maintenance notifications. Future features will include: discussion groups concerning various weather interests and weather services vendors and weather organizations, a new logo for the WeatherQuack brand, a technical support knowledgebase, a feedback section to allow for users to submit feedback concerning WeatherQuack, and live video streaming. Additional features will come at a later date.
Parker went onto clarify that WeatherQuack is more of a community and not a full-scale weather website replacement: “While WeatherQuack will be the ultimate weather community and a solid replacement for the WeatherBug Community being phased out, we are not getting into the full-fledged weather website and weather apps business. WeatherQuack members will still want to rely on their favorite weather websites and weather apps for accessing local weather conditions, maps, forecasts, etc., and we will be doing the same. WeatherQuack is simply a fun, free place to bring the weather community together. We’re going to have a ton with it once it ‘hatches’.”
